Rehabilitation Medicine is a part of health services and include all those measures that relate to preventing the loss of function; slowing the rate of loss of function; improving or restoring function; compensating for lost function; and maintaining current function.
Medical rehabilitation service is carried out by qualified medical professionals in the medical rehabilitation field, including PM&R specialist, trained general practitioner, physiotherapist, speech therapist, occupational therapist, orthotist prosthetist, nurse, medical social worker, psychologist, and spiritual leader. This service is performed in medical facilities, attempting on health promotion, prevention, curative, and rehabilitation, that encompasses integrated health care service using medical, psychosocial, educational, and vocational approach, in order to achieve optimal function.
Indonesian Association of Medical Rehabilitation Specialist (IDARI, Ikatan Dokter Ahli Rehabilitasi Medik Indonesia) was established in 1982 with support from other medical specialties. The name 'IDARI' was then converted to Indonesian Association of PM&R Specialist (PERDOSRI, Perhimpunan Dokter Spesialis Kedokteran Fisik dan Rehabilitasi Indonesia) in 1991.
Indonesian Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation(IJPMR) publishes peer-reviewed original articles in (but not limited to) basic medical research, rehabilitation research, clinical research , literature review and case report. This journal is published twice per year by Indonesian Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association (PERDOSRI) . Articles are original research that needs to be disseminated and written in. All submitted manuscripts will go through the double-blind peer review and editorial review before being granted with acceptance for publication.
This journal was firstly published on 2012 with ISSN 2252-8199 of its print version and an online version with E-ISSN 2621-7678 in accordance with the policy of LIPI, online published version starting with Vol.1 No.1 (2012). All articles submitted to IJPMR should be in English.
