Focus and Scope
Indonesian Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is a peer-reviewed open access journal focusing on the science and practice of physical medicine and rehabilitation, human functioning, disability, and restorative care. The journal publishes original research articles, systematic and narrative reviews, and case reports covering, but not limited to:
- Neurorehabilitation
- Musculoskeletal rehabilitation
- Pain medicine
- Pediatric rehabilitation
- Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
- Electrodiagnostic medicine
- Assistive technology and orthotics–prosthetics
- Occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and speech therapy
- Rehabilitation outcomes and functional assessment based on ICF
The journal aims to advance evidence-based practice and promote international collaboration in rehabilitation science.
The journal welcomes submissions from clinicians, researchers, educators, and health professionals working in rehabilitation medicine and related disciplines.
Peer Review Process
- Initial Screening: The editorial board evaluates submissions for scope, originality, completeness, and ethical compliance.
- Double-Blind Peer Review: At least two independent reviewers assess scientific quality, methodology, and relevance.
- Revision Process: Authors may be required to revise their manuscript in response to reviewer comments.
- Final Decision: The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision (accept, revise, or reject).
- Copyediting and Proofreading: Accepted manuscripts undergo language editing, formatting, and author proof approval before publication.
The average review time is approximately 4–6 weeks.
Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and are required to declare any conflicts of interest before accepting a review assignment.
Publication Frequency
The Indonesian Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (IJPMR) is published biannually, with two issues released each year in July and January.
Beginning with the 2026 publication cycle, the publication schedule was changed from June–December to July–January to align with the administrative transition of the journal's editorial management. The journal continues to publish two issues annually.
Open Access Policy
Indonesian Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation provides immediate open access to all published content. There is no embargo period.
All articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided proper attribution is given to the original author(s).
Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles without requesting prior permission from the publisher or the author.
Copyright and License
- Authors retain full copyright of their published work.
- Upon publication, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish and distribute the article.
- All content is distributed under the CC BY 4.0 License.
Article Processing Charge (APC)
The journal does not charge submission fees. An Article Processing Charge (APC) of IDR 750,000 (~USD 50) is applied only to manuscripts that are accepted for publication. The APC covers editorial management, copyediting, typesetting, and online hosting. There are no additional publication charges. At this time, the journal does not offer APC waivers.
APC payment is requested only after the manuscript has been formally accepted for publication. There are no charges for article submission or peer review.
Archiving Policy
The Indonesian Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (IJPMR) is committed to ensuring the long-term accessibility and integrity of its published scholarly content.
The journal is published using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. To safeguard journal content, the editorial office performs regular backups of the journal database and article files. These backups are intended to minimize the risk of data loss and to support service continuity.
The journal supports the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH), enabling metadata harvesting by indexing and abstracting services and improving the discoverability of published articles.

IJPMR is committed to continuously strengthening its digital preservation strategy and will adopt internationally recognized preservation services as they become available.
Plagiarism Screening
All submissions are screened using Turnitin plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with similarity exceeding 20% (excluding references and quotations) may be returned for revision or rejected. Self-plagiarism and duplicate publication are not permitted.
Similarity reports are evaluated by the editors, and editorial decisions are not based solely on the similarity percentage.
Subscription (Print Version Only)
The online version is fully open access and free of charge. Printed copies of the journal are available upon request through paid subscription. Payment is made via bank transfer.
