Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction: Hajj is a worship that is dominated by physical activity, so it is very important for a pilgrim who will perform the pilgrimage to ensure that he is ready and physically fit in addition to spiritual readiness.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 720 data of prospective pilgrims from 5 embarkations (Sumatra, Central Java (DIY), East Java, Makassar, and Pondok Gede) which were taken using randomized sampling method.
Results: In this study, it was found that the age distribution of prospective Hajj pilgrims was mostly over 60 years old, able to carry out activities of daily life well (85%) independently. Most of the subjects needed assistance during mobilization (91%) although their cardiorespiratory endurance showed good results (above 4 METS).
Conclusions: This study indicates the possibility of musculoskeletal disorders in most of the subjects that hinder independence in the mobilization. Therefore, it is important to check the function before performing the pilgrimage, so that a rehabilitation program can be carried out and the determination of the right tools so that the implementation of the pilgrimage can be carried out optimally. Guidance on aspects of the functional ability of prospective pilgrims during the waiting
